Looking for something fun to do with dad or grandpa this Father’s Day? Well, look no farther than the communities in the South Okanagan and Similkameen as there’s a variety of fun-filled events for everyone.

Penticton

Why not spend Sunday celebrating Dad and helping a local community group at the same time?

The Discovery House, along with Parker’s Chrysler as the major sponsor, is holding a by-donation family fun day at Skaha Lake Park from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sun., June 17.

The water park will be open so everyone is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and beach towels. This year the event will feature a Pirate Theme Festival with prizes for best dressed male and female. A Penticton fire truck and Penticton speedway race car will also be there. There will be carnival games, kids crafts, live children’s entertainment, community road hockey, a dunk tank and bouncy castle. A barbecue will be cooking up t-bone steaks by donation.

Celebrate Father’s Day with your daughter at the Dads and Daughters Afternoon at Okanagan Cosmetics Institute from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Learn how to detangle hair without the tears, create a sassy ponytail, become a braiding Jedi and apply and remove nail polish like a boss. Call 778-476-4247 to reserve a spot. Tickets are $10.

Keremeos

Enjoy some music with dad and the family at the Keremeos Elks Bluegrass Jamboree happening all weekend at the rodeo grounds at 2946 River Road in Keremeos.

Music kicks off Saturday 1 p.m. and goes to 5 p.m. with an open mic of performances. A roast beef dinner is on tap for those that pre-register. Music picks up again from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Sunday catch gospel at the rodeo grounds from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Day pass is just $5.

Princeton

Why not take dad on a fun day-trip to Princeton this Sunday for a special community fishing event being held on Chain Lake. The day is being put on by the Princeton Fish and Game Association.
