Penticton’s Barley Mill Pub comes up with big donation for addictions centre

The long-standing pub donated $23K through weekly meat draw and more

Barley Mill Brew Pub and Sports Bistro donated $23,565 directly to Pathways Addictions Resource Centre through their Sunday meat draws and more.

Rotary Club of Penticton contributed $6,000 to the pot as well.

The funds is a season long fundraiser that will restart in October.

“The Barley Mill would like to send gratitude to our generous community sponsors along with all of those who attended this weekly event,” they said in their Facebook post.

The biggest thank you goes to Tracy Comber of Paragon Mortgages who initiated this event, and donated her time each week. She rounded up support from her community with weekly raffle baskets and volunteers.

“This event would not have been what it was, without Tracy’s dedication,” said Barley Mill.

The funds will help allow Pathways to provide much-needed counselling and support for those suffering in addiction whether it be drugs or alcohol.

Pathways has been helping thousands of people in our community for over 4o years. Last year, Interior Health pulled their funding for Pathways forcing the centre on Main Street to temporarily close.

Weekly protests along with local politicians speaking out against Interior Health’s decision didn’t reverse their decision.

Pathways has been able to re-open and provide help with a fee for service model as well as providing free care through generous donations like this one.
