The Penticton Peach Festival float took home another award, this time at the Hyack Festival parade in New Westminster this weekend.

The Peach Fest float won the President’s award at the parade. Miss Penticton’s Queen Amrit Dhaliwal, and Peach Festival directors Dayle Millington and director and Daphne Adey have been touring the float at various festivals around the Pacific Northwest.

The float just took home an award earlier this month when it won at the Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival parade in Washington.

Locals get to see the award-winning float in person when Peach Fest makes its much-anticipated return in August along with the Grand Parade that takes place on Saturday, Aug. 6.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Main Street and Eckhart Avenue. The Peach Fest parade is the largest in the B.C. Interior.

Floats from across B.C. and Washington State, marching bands, dancers, gymnasts, musicians, clubs, associations and clowns will delight the crowds.

The Penticton Peach Festival is set to return for five full days packed with entertainment and attractions, including the crowning of the new Miss Penticton before the Grand Parade.

Penticton Peach Festival began in 1947, to celebrate the peach harvest in Penticton. This year is expected to be the biggest yet from Aug. 3 to 7.
