A Penticton gallery is putting a call out for young artists for their next exhibition.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for young artists to learn about the submission and exhibition process,” said Tumbleweed Collective artist Lyse Deselliers, a lead artist behind the project. “We are really looking forward to seeing the beautiful projects that our talented youth will bring forward.”
The Budding Artist exhibit will be part of the opening reception for Blossom, the latest group show from the Tumbleweed Collective. Deselliers said the theme can be interpreted as widely as you like. Each member artist will also be working to this theme.
“I love working like this,” said artist Jessie Dunlop. “I seem to produce my best work when the scope is narrowed.”
Young artists (ages 16 to 18) are invited to submit their work to be part of an upcoming show at the Tumbleweed Gallery. The winning submissions will be featured alongside new work by the seven artists of the Tumbleweed Collective.
To submit art, download a submissions form from www.tumbleweedgallery.ca and email it along with up to three photos of your favourite works. The Tumbleweed Collective within a small space, so artworks can be up to 16 inches by 20 inches. Deselliers said the artists are happy to help, and budding artists are encouraged to reach them by email if they have any questions.
Entering art is free, and the deadline is midnight on Monday, May 27. Eight submissions will be chosen for the Blossom and Budding Artists show, which will have an opening reception on June 20.
