The Okanagan School of the Arts has released their list of fall courses.

Starting off the list, on Sept. 20 at the Elks Lodge, Nikki Marshall of Okanagan Dye Works will be teaching a needle felting class.

Participants will use wool to form and sculpt three woodland creatures. The large space will allow for physical distancing during this class.

On Sept. 26, a full-day Story Catcher workshop will be offered via Zoom. Certified instructor Leigh Morrow will provide an introduction to writing a life story, two pages at a time. By the end of the day, participants will have learned tricks to prime their memories and have a written theme for their autobiography.

Registrants interested in expanding this experience will receive a discount on the six-week guided autobiography course that will also be offered over Zoom later this fall.

Artists looking to expand their palettes can join artist Jane Appleby for Painting with Exuberant Colour on Oct. 3. Colour expression and composition will be covered in this one-day class.

“We hope these classes, courses, and workshops will provide a welcome opportunity for creation and connection,” said OSA executive director Kim Palmer in a news release. “The health of our community is foremost in everyone’s mind right now. We believe that making art can have a positive impact on our mental and emotional well-being, and we are respecting all the recommended safety guidelines.

Pre-registration is required for all classes, and can be done online at the OSA’s website at www.okanaganschoolofthearts.com.

In-person registration is available at Cowork Penticton weekdays from 9 to 11 a.m.
