Over the years, Nixdorf Classic Cars has been generous in their support for the Agur Lake Camp Society’s work on building a barrier-free camp.
They’ve just helped out once again, donating $4,000 to kick off the society’s fundraising campaign for Cabin No. 4, scheduled to be built in two to three years.
Agur Lake Camp provides people with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy nature and camp in the outdoors, experiences they would not normally be able to have at regular recreation areas or camps due to physical, sensory and/or medical challenges. The camp is a retreat for groups and families from all around B.C.
The Nixdorf car museum has been a gold sponsor of the annual Swing for Kids Charity Golf Tournament for the past two years and last year, they donated funds to purchase an accessible picnic table for the pavilion as well as a viewing bench.
Garnet Nixdorf has a special connection to a camp like Agur Lake Camp, tracing back to a childhood friend who had a disability. When the two would go fishing, Nixdorf helped his friend who had trouble setting up his fishing line.
Agur Lake Camp has three fully furnished accessible cabins that are busy all summer long but to finish the fourth cabin, the society needs to raise $350,000. Donations or sponsors for this project are appreciated. Donations can be made directly to the Agur Lake Camp Society by cheque, online at www.agurlakecamp.ca via Canada Helps and PayPal.
The camp also has paved trails, a beautiful picnic pavilion, a fire pit, an observation deck and two fishing docks. Recreational vehicle spaces and tenting are also available.
