Penticton Museum and Archives’ next Brown Bag Lecture Series is taking a trip back in time on Jan. 25, courtesy of local historian Randy Manuel.
The museum’s latest lunch-hour lecture, titled Are We There Yet?: Trails and Transportation in the Okanagan, will discuss travel in the region’s early days.
From historic trails to early transportation routes, Manuel is set to present what travel was really like over 100 years ago in the Okanagan.
“A trip to Chilliwack in 1908 was a two to three-day affair in travel time,” the presenter says in the museum’s latest release. “Today we complain if it takes more than four hours. This talk will give you an idea of travel in the ‘Good Ol Days’”.
Along with being a historian, Manuel also used to be the Penticton Museum and Archives’ curator.
The museum’s lecture series made its 2022 debut on Jan. 18. when retired library technician Glenna MacKenzie discussed the legacy of late Penticton businessman Charles A.C. Steward.

After going on a one-month hiatus because of the holidays, the Brown Bag Lecture Series has officially returned for good every Tuesday from 12 to 1 p.m. in the museum’s auditorium on 785 Main Street.
Seating capacity for Manuel’s presentation next week is limited to 25 people.
However, all of the museum’s lectures can be viewed on YouTube following the presentation.
Admission to the live talks is by donation.
