Kelowna Mayor Dyas, MLA-elect Dew help clean up Rutland

Mayor Tom Dyas and Kelowna-Mission MLA-elect Gavin Dew were part of more than 30 volunteers

Just a week after being voted to be the Conservative MLA-elect for Kelowna-Mission, Gavin Dew and Mayor Tom Dyas were cleaning up Rutland.

On Oct. 26, the two of them, along with many others, were cleaning up the streets with the Rutland Residents Association at the Rutland Community Clean-up.

In total, more than 30 volunteers collected over 20 bags of garbage.

"It was great to see many community members pitch in," said Mayor Tom Dyas on Instagram.

Included in the volunteers were members of the KIJHL's Kelowna Chiefs.

"A big thanks to Rutland community member Chris Bocskei for organizing this yearly event," said Dyas.

Dew was voted as the MLA-elect for Kelowna-Mission back on Oct. 19, receiving 51.49 per cent of the vote (14,071 votes).
