The Summerland Heritage Advisory Commission recognizes a building, a site and sometimes a tree for Heritage Week.
The selections for 2017 are the IOOF Hall, Peach Orchard Campground and the two horse chestnut trees on Shaughnessy Avenue.
Summerland has recognized its heritage building, site and trees for the past 32 years.
On Saturday Feb. 18, at 2 p.m, at Summerland Seniors Village, municipal council’s Heritage Advisory Commission presents Brenda Gould.
Gould is an Okanagan archaeologist. Brenda will be describing First Nations History.
In 2016, her projects have included the Haynes Point site, the Skaha Hills development, pictographs in the Similkameen and the Lighthouse Landing development in Trout Creek.
This presentation is open to the public and admission is by donation.
