Peach Orchard Campground has been a part of Summerland for more than a century. Municipal council acquired the land for the campground in 1907.

Peach Orchard Campground is located near Okanagan Lake on Peach Orchard Road.

Municipal council acquired the land from the Summerland Development Company in 1907. This land was one of the first expenditures of the first council.

The original name of the park was the Old Orchard Park.

As the name implies, it once was used for growing peaches when owned by George Barclay.

With the natural springs within the park, it was the first site for the first fish hatchery in Summerland.

Peach Orchard Road was once part of the Okanagan Valley’s first highway, the Cariboo Highway.

In the early 1920s the Park was used as a “Tourist Camp” and an “Auto Camp.”

It was considered one of the most popular locations along the entire Cariboo Highway.

The original parkland included both sides of Peach Orchard Road.

Over the years there has been pressure to develop the property, and the size of the park has decreased.
