Ellison Hall, a former Summerland landmark, was named in honour of a former member of the British Columbia legislature.
Hon. Price Ellison, who was born in the United Kingdom, came to the United States in 1873 and settled in Vernon in 1876. He served as a Conservative in the British Columbia legislature from 1898 to 1916. He represented Yale-East from 1898 to 1903 and Okanagan from 1903 to 1916. When Richard McBride was premier, Ellison served as the provincial Minister of Finance.

While Ellison is associated with the community of Vernon, where he lived until his death in 1932, he also played a role in the rest of the Okanagan Valley.
He was a supporter or irrigation, which was an important factor in the development of orchard land in Summerland and the rest of the region.
Today, Ellison recognized in Peachland, as Ellison Avenue is named after him. The street is one of the oldest streets in Peachland. Ellison Provincial Park near Vernon is named after Ellison, as is the unincorporated community of Ellison in the Regional District of Central Okanagan.
