A huge amount of donations poured in for Critteraid Animal Sanctuary’s Num Num November food drive held in the Parkway elementary school parking lot in Penticton on Saturday.

Growers Supply and Trouw Nutrition donated three pallets of dog and chicken food as well as hay cubes.

Within the first hour, two trucks were already filled with bags of dog and cat food.

“I’m just blown away,” said Critteraid director Jess Byers. “It was incredible.”

“We have our shelves stocked up. We are so happy to be ready for any emergency cold animal cases that may need food. And we can look ahead to winter with a great supply of food for everyone — from growing puppies to retired alpacas and all the cats in between,” said Byers.

Critteraid Animal Sanctuary held the annual food drive hoping to fill three trucks with much-needed food and feed for winter. The community far and wide came out with food and financial donations.

Currently at the Summerland animal sanctuary, there are 70 cats, 11 dogs, nine goats, 11 pigs, 19 chickens and ducks, four cows, two alpacas and one Alex the llama, said Byers.
