After two years of closing up ship due to the pandemic, the SS Sicamous has opened its doors again to the public offering up some cozy Christmas days on the paddle-wheeler.
Hosted by the SS Sicamous Marine Heritage Society, the boat will be all decked out for the holidays for five days from Dec. 19 to 23.
Celebrate the holidays by exploring the Queen of Okanagan Lake when she is all decked out for the season with the magical KVR Model Train and Christmas decorations. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Baked treats and a hot beverage will be available by donation in the dining hall where guests can sit down and enjoy their treats around a table with friends. On Dec. 20 and 22, Santa will be stopping by the ship from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring your own camera. Spots are first come, first served.
The Society is also raising funds to help restore the history of the SS Sicamous museum by selling Christmas greeting cards for the holidays. The Christmas cards are photos of the heritage boats taken by local photographers.
The funds will go towards preserving and restoring archives. They are looking to make changes and adjustments to some of our older displays on this ship, to create new and exciting experiences for local communities and clients.
The goal is to reach $2,000.
The greeting cards can be mixed and matched or all the same style. The Christmas greeting cards are available for pick up at the SS Sicamous at 1099 Lakeshore Drive West. A pack of 10 is $12. Check it out here. Please schedule a time to pick up your greeting cards by email or call 250-492-0403.
