Range Rider has moved into a larger facility factory outlet and distribution centre on Highway 97.
The company, which has been manufacturing truck canopies and tonneau covers in Summerland since 1983, moved into a three-storey, 557-square metre building on Highway 97, at the end of August. The building is on the same site as its older factory outlet building. The older building, at 183 square metres, was no longer adequate for the company’s needs, said Al Klar, founder of Range Rider.
The company had used the building as a factory outlet since the early 1990s.
“It’s done its job for nearly 20 years,” he said. “It was time to move to proper facilities.”
The former building was demolished earlier this week.
Klar said the new building will also serve as the distribution centre for Range Rider and will provide training for dealers.
The company is now working to export its truck canopies into Asia.
The canopies are manufactured in Summerland and Klar said the business has been expanding.
“We are not only hanging onto the jobs we have; we are also bringing people in,” he said. “Our business model is working.”
