Kelowna residents can rejoice as Olympia Greek Taverna is finally reopening.

After burning down in 2020, the Rutland restaurant is holding a soft reopen starting on Saturday, Feb. 24, as it will only be available for take-out for the first few weeks. Menu items will be available for both delivery and pick-up.

“We need to retrain ourselves and our staff for the new layout and new equipment and not overwhelm the kitchen at the beginning,” said the restaurant in a Facebook post.

Olympia will also be reopening with a limited menu.

A date hasn’t been announced for when the dining room will be open.

Olympia has been located on Highway 33 in Rutland since 1973.

The fire that destroyed the Rutland landmark was deemed accidental by the Kelowna Fire Department.
