Okanagan College wins best overall at 13th annual commercial business awards

The Okanagan College Student Residence was the recipient of the Judges Choice Award at the 13th Annual BDO LLP Thompson Okanagan Commercial Building Awards at the Coast Capri Hotel in Kelowna on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Many business around the Okanagan took home awards at the 13th Annual BDO LLP Thompson Okanagan Commercial Building Awards.

The awards took place on Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Coast Capril Hotel in Kelowna.

In total, there were 37 finalists at the event, which celebrates the best commercial, industrial, community and multi-family buildings across the entire Okanagan.

One of the most prestigious awards is the Judges’ Choice Best Overall award, which was won by Okanagan College Kelowna Student Residences.

Additionally, Kelowna's Bird Construction won the Award of Excellence in the Affordable Housing category.

Other awards included:

Community Institutional: Royal Inland Hospital – Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower - Kamloops;

Hospitality & Tourism: Revelry Food + Music Hub - Kelowna;

Industrial: Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant - West Kelowna;

Multi-Family Condominium: 450 Parc - Kelowna;

Multi-Family Townhome: The Monarch - Vernon;

Office: Landmark 7 - Kelowna;

Purpose Built Rental: The Arbour Phase II - Kelowna;

Retail: Sweláps Market - Kamloops.

Merit awards for runner-up buildings were:

Community Institutional: Kelowna International Airport Childcare Facility;

Hospitality & Tourism: Four Points by Sheraton Expansion Kelowna;

Industrial: Mountain Lake Industrial of Kelowna and Silver Stream - Kamloops;

Multi-Family Condominium: Willow Park - Kelowna;

Retail: Kelowna Mercedes Benz.
