A Summerland bakery will mark its fifth anniversary later this month.

True Grain Bread opened its Summerland location in 2012 and in that time, the bakery has received accolades for its baking.

“We’re honoured to have received New Business of the Year (2012) and multiple Business of the Year awards (2014, 2015 and 2016,)” said Todd Laidlaw, owner of the bakery. “We owe our early success to our loyal customers from both Summerland and throughout the Okanagan.”

The bakery was also named Best New Restaurant/Shop/Cafe in the Okanagan by EAT Magazine in 2012, one of the top 20 bakeries in Canada by Huffington Post and No. 1 of 31 bakeries in the Okanagan Valley by TripAdvisor.

“We strive to connect with our customers in relevant and meaningful ways,” Laidlaw said. “All of our flour comes from a B.C. farm. All of our flour is organic. We specialize in ancient and heritage grains that are true to nature and haven’t been modified. We freshly stone mill many grain varieties ourselves at low temperatures to optimize both taste and nutrition. Finally, our team of talented bakers handcrafts each individual loaf.”

In addition to handcrafted organic bread and pastries, True Grain also sells cookies, crackers, croutons, pasta, pancake mix and organic flour.

On Saturday, June 24, the bakery will hold an anniversary celebration.
