Summerland Steam defeat Princeton Posse in 4-0 shutout

Junior B hockey rivals played in Princeton on Saturday

The Summerland Steam and the Princeton Posse, two longtime Junior B hockey rivals, faced off at the Princeton Arena on Saturday evening, playing to a 4-0 win for Summerland.

In the first period, Cairo Rogers scored at 16:58, assisted by Liam McLaren to give the Steam an early lead.

In the second period, Linden Gove scored a power play goal for the Steam at 9:58, assisted by Everett Scherger and Tristan Hewitt.

Ty Banser added an unassisted goal at 1:03.

In the third period, Cory Loring scored a power play goal at 4:52, with assists by Ryan Allen and Ethan Grover.

Game stars were Lane French of the Posse and Jared Breitkreuz of the Steam.

Both teams are in the Okanagan/Shuswap Conference: Okanagan Division in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.

At present, the Steam have one win and one loss in regular season play, while the Posse have a record of no wins and two losses in the regular season.

The next hockey action for Summerland will be on Friday, Sept. 14, when the Steam host the Golden Rockets at the Summerland Arena. The game begins at 7:30 p.m.

The next game for the Posse is on Friday, Sept. 14 against the 100 Mile House Wranglers. The game, in 100 Mile House, begins at 7 p.m.

The two teams will meet up again on Saturday, Sept. 29 in Princeton.
