Lil Smith wins Summerland golf, Diane Anderson captures Ladies golf title and lawn bowling results

Summerland Golf and Country Ladies Club played the game “O.N.E.S.” on July 4.

The holes starting with those letters are counted. i.e. one, three, six, seven, eight, nine, eleven, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen and then the score is doubled and handicap subtracted to arrive at the net score. Lil Smith won the first flight scoring 76. Tying for second were Helen Pybus and Linda Brussee 77. Second flight winners were Janis Goll first with 67 and Gwen Redfern, 70. Helen Benallick was the third flight winner scoring 77.

McIver wins Penticton senior golf

The team of Keith McIver, Howard Tracey, Karl Davidson and Greg McWilliams won the Wednesday Penticton Senior Men’s Tournament with a score of 181 (-29). Finishing second, at 186, were Ernie Peaker, Malcolm Clough, Flip Murray and Garry Schneiderat.

Diane Anderson won the Penticton golf Ladies championship June 26 to 27, scoring 157. She was followed up by Viv Mohoruk with 163, while Laura Mansell took the overall low net with 133.

Lawn bowling club winners

The Penticton Lawn Bowling club held a competition recently with Jack Byron and Marianne Beaulac winning in mixed pairs. Terry O’ Riordon and Myrna McLaren won the Pairs League and Australian Pairs winners are Patti Carlsen and Bev Marling. The Penticton Lawn Bowling Club has an active membership of 80 members.
