Five Summerland sports heroes are going to be honoured at a special ceremony later this month.
The Community Sport Hero Awards, a SportBC program that recognizes coaches, officials, mentors and administrators who have dedicated themselves to amateur sport at the community level.
Since its inception in 2001, more than 50 provincial sport organizations have honoured more than 500 sport volunteers in 65 different communities. This year, the Summerland recipients are T.J. Fleming, David Gartrell, Carol Van Balkom, Audie Yastremski and Anne Ross.
The awards ceremony on Nov. 28 at the Summerland Arena Complex at 6:30 p.m. is a free event. An appetizer reception will be provided.
