Flames season over after first round loss

The South Okanagan Flames were swept from the Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League playoffs.

The Flames opened the series on July 4 with a 23-2 loss to the Kamloops Venom. The Flames lost again by a closer score of 16-12 in Oliver on July 6. According to the league’s website, the final game was not played and now the Venom are facing the Vernon Tigers, whom they host on July 17.

The Flames season ends with the team going 6-9-1 in the regular season and placing fourth in the five-team league. Connor Walton led the Flames in offence with 48 goals, 77 points in 14 games. Jake MacLeod was second with 15 goals, 40 points in 13 games. Louis Shortreed was third with 12 goals and 26 points in eight games. Rounding out the top five scorers were Chace Moog with 25 points in 15 games and Sam Jones with 24 points in 12 games. Charles Nicholas earned half of the team’s wins.
