The Ice Hawks won the women’s division championship in the 2012 annual Reds Hockey Tournament held at Summerland Arena April 5 to 8.

Ice Hawk centre M.J. Elson was also chosen as the tournament MVP.

Competition between the four evenly-matched women’s teams was intense.

The Ice Hawks lost their first game by one goal and won their third with a goal scored with only 45 seconds left on the clock.

They battled the Crazy Canucks from Kelowna in the second game and the final.

Both those games ended in a draw, settled by a shootout.

Five shooters per team were required to break the tie in the third game and four per team were needed for the championship.

The Ice Hawks  train Saturday nights at Summerland Arena.

Women of all ages and abilities, with an interest in learning or improving their game while having fun, are invited to join the team next season.
