Dear Editor:
I am with Summerland Minor Fastpitch and I would really like to take a moment to recognize some of our townsfolk and local businesses for their support over the years of which has aided our association greatly.
Most recently our U19 team was very fortunate to be a part of a barbecue fundraiser at Nesters Market here in Summerland.
A very huge thank you goes out to Genessa and the staff at Nesters for setting up the barbecue and donating to the Minor U19 Summerland Scorch softball team.
These funds subsidize tourney fees, travel costs and food for the team when travelling.
As an association we would also like to thank all the local folk and businesses who helped us.
Without the local support, our association would not get the exposure it needs and have the means to host events such as districts and provincials and to have our kids to be able to play.
Every year on the first two weekends in May we host our own tournaments.
Come out this weekend, May 6 and 7 to watch U12/U16 and May 13 and 14 to see the U14/U19 age groups all at Dale Meadows ball fields.
