Fortis must accept responsibility

It’s up to Fortis to accept responsibility, and to instruct their insurance underwriters to address those claims.

Dear Editor:

Regarding the recent power outage in Summerland, if the power failure was precipitated by the delivery system the problem and associated liability belong with Fortis. Vendors of all kinds of consumer products — cars included — would never dare tell buyers and owners that they are liable for inferior products and components.

It’s up to Fortis to accept responsibility, and to instruct their insurance underwriters to address those claims.

The suggestion that home owners all buy surge protectors is absurd.

If anybody should be buying and installing surge protectors, it is Fortis.
