Spring may have been slow to get started, but our local businesses are looking for change.

There are a number of exciting new products and services being offered this year in our community from lighting up your home or business or eating out for dinner.

The last few months at the chamber have been busy with the Business and Community Excellence Awards and our annual AGM, but now our thoughts turn to the sun, and the visitors it brings into our community.

New members

New members are joining the chamber in April.

Avangardens Landscape Design provide landscaping services.

Blok It Contracting and Landscaping Services offer contracting and landscaping services as well as general cleaning.

European Gourmet Services Inc. is a restaurant and hospitality consulting business that also provide catering services and operates a bakery food truck.

GSX Delivery will provide the delivery and transfer of goods from parcels to freight.

Larosa Glass has a long history doing custom glass showers and mirrors, windows, frames, back splashes, shelving, railings, skylights and more with three generations in the industry.

Vacation Penguin is a travel agency offering holiday planning services via phone or online.

Realtor recognition

Deborah Moore, owner of Remax Orchard Country Summerland was awarded Broker of the Year in the multiple office category by Remax of Western Canada.

Moore purchased the Summerland office in 2015, and the brokerage has doubled in size under her direction.

Anniversaries

YMCA WorkBC Employment Service Centres celebrated their fifth anniversary in Summerland on April 6. The centre provide free assistance to individuals that are looking for work. Individuals and employers can access online job search and employment assistance.

The Windmill Garden Centre, home of the Apple Barn, also celebrates 27 years in 2017.

New product

Nailed It! Projects is offering a new product and service. The new division, called Light It Up!, specializes in MoviLume LED lighting that is controlled and fully customizable by an app on your phone.

The company is the exclusive dealer/installer for these products for the entire Okanagan Valley from Osoyoos to Salmon Arm and over to Kamloops and Merritt.

Promotional product

Morpheus Graphix has a new project, Visit Our Okanagan.

The new product offers a number of new services including racking in their mobile Community Cruiser, and online and publication advertising in their fundraising coupon book and calendar.

The project even has a mascot, Beacon the Beaver, and you’ll see him out at community events.

Food tour

Wicked Wine Tours announced the launch of The Amazing Grazing Tour, where guests will embark on a mouth-watering adventure and experience Kelowna’s culinary gems.

The tour will include delicious, hand-crafted small plates paired with local Okanagan wine.

Cidery website

Summerland Heritage Cider have updated their image with the launch of their new website last month.

The new site has a fresh, modern look and, along with their social media platforms, features great new photographs.

The company’s origin goes back over 20 years to three friends, all orchardists growing apples in Summerland.

Restaurant expands

On April 18, Union Kitchen Inc. expanded their service to serve lunch and dinner.

Along with serving local wines, beer and cider they will be launching their new dinner tapas/share plate menu and more.

Changing from counter service to table service, the restaurant will still offer fun, casual locally sourced food.
