Phyllis MCKAY

Phyllis Mary McKay of Grand Forks, BC passed away peacefully December 5, 2009 at the age of 81. She was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and spent her teenage years in Summerland. She went to Normal School in Vancouver and taught school for 6 years. She married Norman Clark McKay in 1953. They raised their family in Westbridge, BC and spent their retirement years in Summerland. She is survived by her children Richard (Laurel) of Hanceville BC, Lorraine (Brian Meyer) of Forest Grove, BC, Ken (Cindy) of Fisher Branch, MB, Kathy of Wildwood, AB and Tom (Karen) of Grand Forks, BC. She is survived by her grandchildren Clifton McKay, Lac La Biche, AB; Erin Meyer, Victoria, BC; Neil Meyer, Esterhazy, Saskatchewan; Kendra Hallstrom (Jayme), Kamloops; Christie Wheaton (Wade), Grand Forks, Peter Beliveau (Pinkaew), Thailand, Amy, Ian, Clint and Scott McKay of Fisher Branch; and her great grandchildren Zak and Josie Wheaton, Grand Forks; Jorel and Kent Armstrong and Serenity McKay, Lac La Biche; Payton and Paicey Beliveau of Thailand; and Jacey Hallstrom of Kamloops. She is also survived by her sister Louise Simon of Montreal and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Norman and by her parents Lewis and Phyllis Dawson and her brothers Dick and George Dawson and sister Jane Bonner. Her memorial service will take place at 2:30 pm Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Summerland United Church; Reverend Kent Israel officiating. Tea to follow.
