NORMA ANN PARKER

November 5, 2010

In loving memory.

Norma Ann Parker (nee Giddy)

March 4,1944 - November 5, 2010

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our precious lady with her loving husband and girls by her side (with much appreciated support by the sons-in-law). Norma was a Loving wife/best friend and soul mate of 48 years to Leigh Parker; wonderful Mom to her 3 girls and sons-in law - Cherie (Rick) Datoff, Michelle (Neal) Sideroff and Leigh-ann (Brad) Vanderline-Parker; and very proud and loving Nana to her 9 Grandchildren; Brandan, Alanna, Josh, Rylan, Deven, Tyrell, Kelsi-leigh, Ashleigh, Sheigh-ann - all will miss her dearly. She also leaves to mourn many friends and extended family - she touched everyone she met with her wisdom and generosity. Norma travelled the world; had many adventures, met many people and had many stories to share. She enjoyed sports throughout her life, from scuba diving to being a very talented golfer, there was not much she would not try at least once. Norma was predeceased by her parents; Norman and Ann Giddy.

We can shed tears that she is gone, or we can smile because she has lived. We can close our eyes and pray that she’ll come back, or we can open our eyes and see all she’s left. Our heart can be empty because we can’t see her, or we can be full of the love we shared. We can remember her only that she is gone, or we can cherish her memory and let it live on, We can cry and close our mind, be empty and turn our back... Or we can do what she’d want, smile open your eyes love and go on!!! We will miss you

As one of her dear friends said - Norma always told it like it is... she was “no sissy” when it came to living every day! She could tame a lion or hold a child’s hand she was such a powerful presence. We all looked up to her as a role model... not to compete, but as an example to be the best you can be. I love the saying, “Don’t regret anything you have done, only regret the things you wanted to do and didn’t!” There wasn’t much Norma missed doing THAT SHE WANTED TO DO. BRAVO.

No service as per request - celebration of life expected in 2011

In lieu of flowers; Donations in Norma’s memory to the Agur Lake Camp in Summerland.
