In Loving Memory ~

Norm Christman of Summerland passed away April 8, 2024, surrounded by family and friends at Penticton Regional Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 yrs., Jill Pelland, and many nieces & nephews.

Norm began his career with the Calgary Police Department, then served with the Saanich Police Department for twenty-six years, retiring as Staff Sergeant in 1991, proud to have served every year.

This year he attained his goal of being retired for as long as he had worked. Norm led an active life. While working at Saanich Police Department he built a forty-foot power boat that he and Jill lived aboard while pursuing saltwater fishing and guiding.

After retirement, he and Jill trained and raced thoroughbreds at Hastings Park in Vancouver. Several times he rode his Goldwing motorcycle from Garnett Valley Summerland to Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, his hometown, and participated by riding horseback in the RCMP March West ride in 1991, passing down the main street of his childhood home. Later he and Jill lived for seven years at Osprey Lake where he enjoyed trout fishing, quad exploring, and mapping the wilderness trails.

Norm also spent several years volunteering at the SL Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store. Jill thanks the staff in the ICU department at Penticton hospital while supported by sisters and wonderful friends through Norm's final days.

At Norm's request, no service will be held. Those who wish, could make a donation to SL Auxiliary Thrift or Critter Aid.
