HAMBLETT, MILLICENT ROSE
1914 - 2016
It is with great sadness we announce the death of Millicent Rose Hamblett (nee Smith) born April 13, 1914 in Brantford, Ontario and died December 24, 2016 at Dr. Andrew Pavilion in Summerland. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Shirley Rutter (Arthur) of Summerland, son Michael Hamblett (Jackie) of Armstrong, BC, and five beautiful grandchildren Darryl of Trail, BC and Penny of Montrose, BC; Todd (Glenda) of Edmonton, AB; Mark (Rebecca) of Brisbane, Australia, and Timothy Rudell of Salmo, BC. She also leaves to mourn eight great grandchildren, and her sister Margaret Cavin in Brantford, Ontario as well as many nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law in Ontario. Milly was predeceased by her husband William in 1978 and son William John in 2013; brothers John Smith, Phillip Smith and Christopher Smith. Milly lived in the County of Brant area in Ontario until 1969 when they moved to Naramata, where they resided until 1977 before relocating to Summerland.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Dr. Andrew Pavilion in Summerland for their compassionate care and to Dr. Martine LeBel for her gentle attention to our mother’s wellness. Our mother enjoyed her twenty years at Victoria Gardens and ten years at Angus Place prior to moving into full care at Dr. Andrew Pavilion earlier this year.
A Memorial Service was held January 4, 2017 at St. Stephen Anglican Church, Summerland with the Reverend Rick Paulin officiating.
