Mary Joan Ursuliak (nee Nichols)Of Summerland, BC, passed away peacefully on January 17th, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1934, she moved with most of her immediate family to the Okanagan Valley in 1980. In addition to raising 5 children, Mary became a well-known potter with pieces held in private collections world-wide. She made friends from all over the globe during the nine years she and her husband ran a Bed & Breakfast in their lakeside home in Trout Creek. Mary leaves behind her devoted husband Ernie, her sister Megan Lougheed, surviving sons Grant and Howard, and daughters Susan and Zenovia. Mary was predeceased by son Raymond and grandson Demetri. Grandchildren Emily, Tim, Jessie, Renee, and Catherine will miss their grandma. An announcement for a memorial service will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that fellow mourners honor Mary with a donation to the BC Cancer Society. Condolences to the family can be emailed to ursuliakem @shaw.ca
