LOIS LONG

February 4, 2017

Lois Long passed away with her family holding her hands February 4, 2017 at the age of 78 years. She will be remembered and sadly missed by children Kathy (Brad) Luffman, Ron Spankovich and his daughters Alycia (Jason) Degenstein and Rachelle Degenstein and their mother Karen, and Lynne Basso and her children Todd and Miranda Basso. She was predeceased by parents Ernest and Annabell Long, brother Ray Long, and dear friends Eleanor and Dan. Lois was born October 5, 1938 in Cardston, AB. She graduated from Magrath in 1956. Later she moved to Calgary where she raised her 3 children and worked many different jobs to provide for her family. She was most loved as Friday’s cafeteria mom and taxi driver for her kids. Lois was a social lady who enjoyed line and square dancing at the Legion and going to the Calgary Stampede with a special love for its pancake breakfasts. Her family and friends will always remember her as a mom who did her very best to be kind to others and to be grateful. The family would like to thank the Penticton Renal Clinic and Dr. Venkataraman for their compassion and support. A public viewing will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Providence’s Summerland Chapel, 13205 Rosedale Ave., Summerland, BC with the Funeral Ceremony to follow Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summerland United Church, 13204 Henry Ave., Summerland, BC. Memorial donations may be made to Penticton Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic, 740 Carmi Ave., Penticton, BC V2A 8P9.
