Leslie Edward Smith, born at 1410 Westmount
Boulevard in Calgary, Alberta, on January 10, 1929
to Reuben and Annie (nee Merithew) Smith, passed
away on March 24, 2017 in Summerland, British
Columbia, in his home “at the orchard” surrounded
by his family.
Jim is survived by Fern Smith (nee Turigan), his
loving wife of 63 years, his children Marjorie (Don)
Gammond of Fort Fraser, BC, Jenny (Terry) Harker
of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Anna (Keith) Smith
of Penticton, BC, Will (Juanita) Smith of Ecuador,
Caroline (Tim) Cottrill of Keremeos, BC, and
Kathaleen (Richard) Gibbs of Cawston, BC, his half
siblings of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Clifford
(Gloria) Sever, Shirley Hamilton and Audrey Gaetz
as well as 25 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1
great great grandchild, numerous step grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Cameron Smith and
his sister Elizabeth Moberg.

You were the most remarkable man we have ever
known and you have left us with pretty big boots to fill.
