Kurt NUMSEN

February 14, 2010

Kurt Rolf Numsen of Summerland, BC passed away peacefully February 14, 2010 at the age of 90. Survived by his loving wife Marlies Numsen and his children: Klaus-Juergen & Rita Numsen of Hattingen, Germany; Rolf Numsen & Clara Ventresca of Port Colborne, Ontario; Helmut & Marion Speier (nee Numsen) of Kelowna, BC; Werner & Reingard Numsen of Summerland, BC; Frederik & Loraine Numsen of Summerland, BC and his 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. “Don’t be afraid, just believe!”. Born October 21, 1919 in Koenigsberg / East Prussia, Kurt proved a natural born farmer with an entrepreneurial spirit right from an early age. After having lost his mobility and home in the war, fate led him to his loving partner of almost 65 years with whom he overcame the terrible post war time period. Together they raised 5 children prior to finding a new home in Summerland in 1979. During his final working years he was engaged in property management and became an active participant with the Lions Club of Summerland, the Heidelberg Club of Penticton and the St. John’s Lutheran Church. Memorial Service was held February 20, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Colbeck officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to see donations in memory of Kurt to go to the St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Andy Moog Hospice House.
