George William Chadburn passed away
with his family by his side January 28,
2017 at the age of 91 years. He will be
remembered and sadly missed by his
loving wife of 68 years, Hazel Chadburn,
children Dianne Chadwick and Mark
Chadburn, both of Summerland,
BC, 6 grandchildren, and 13 great
grandchildren. He was predeceased
by daughter Sylvia Ann (1952) and son
Grant William (2006).
George was born in Winnipeg, MB
on April 9, 1925. He joined the Royal
Canadian Navy (right out of school) and then moved to Summerland
with his parents in 1945. He married Hazel in 1948, working at
Cornwall Cannery and then Brenda Mines until he retired. His
orchard was his hobby and passion, being one of the first to bring
Ambrosia apples to Summerland. Raising a family and dedication
to his work and orchard kept Dad busy. He enjoyed several ocean
fishing trips with his boys.
George’s family would like to thank Drs. Kindberg and Bannerman,
the palliative care team and the Summerland Medical Centre for all
their compassionate care. A Memorial Gathering will be held in the
spring. Memorial tributes may be made to BC SPCA South Okanagan
Similkameen Branch, 2200 Dartmouth Dr., Penticton, BC V2A 4C2.
Condolences may be directed to the family through
