Elma T. Wotherspoon: July 19, 1929-April 20, 2009. Peacefully on April 20, 2009 in Penticton BC, Elma, daughter of late Professor David & Mrs. D.E. Bain, passed away in her 79th year after an arduous battle with cancer. She is sadly missed by her loving husband Derek (Summerland), son David (Evelyn), daughter Joan Lister (Bill), and sister, Lois M. Bain of Edinburgh, Scotland, 4 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren. Born & educated in Edinburgh, Elma taught in the U.K. & Calgary, where she and Derek were married in 1954. Elma was the centre of a busy, happy family. She and Derek retired to Summerland, BC in 1984. She dedicated many hours to the Girl Guides as a Captain and District Commissioner, to volunteer canvassing and was a devoted member of the Summerland United Church Women. Throughout her life she forged many close, deeply cherished friendships.
Elma will long be remembered for the quiet steady courage she maintained through her illness, her humour, her understanding and her gentle, loving manner. Our memories of love will be of you, Elma. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of her life at the Summerland United Church at 2:00 pm on Saturday May 16th, 2009.
