Edward McDONALD

Edward William “Ted” McDonald. A gentleman and a scholar, of Summerland BC, born October 6, 1921, Jarrow England, passed away on May 28, 2010 at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by parents Elizabeth (nee Cameron) and Edward McDonald, son-in-law Casey and sister-in-law Joan McDonald. Survived by his loving wife Dorothy (nee Folk), daughters Karen Kowalski and Janet Weir, grandchildren; Cameron Weir, Nicole Weir and their father Charles Weir. Also survived by his brother Roderick “Roddy” McDonald of Scotland, and sister Sheila (John) Thompson of Wales and their families. Ted served with the RAF and after the war immigrated to Canada. He resided in Regina and worked with Sask. Power for over 35 years. In 1997 Dorothy and Ted moved to Summerland, BC to be near the “bairns”. Ted enjoyed several years golfing at Sumac Ridge and running a taxi service for his grandchildren. Ted fought a long, hard battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Cottage 3 at Village by the Station, Penticton. Celebration of life will be held Friday, June 4, 2010, 3:30pm at Summerland’s Rosedale Chapel, 13205 Rosedale Avenue, Summerland, BC, with Padre Rick Gay officiating.
