Summerland receives grant funds

Two grants received in third intake for Rural Dividend Fund

Summerland has received funding for two projects through the Rural Dividend Fund.

The grants were awarded in the third intake of the fund.

The Giant’s Head Trails project has received $435,000 for trails on the mountain.

This project is in partnership with the Summerland Rotary Club. It was submitted under the destination trails project stream.

Earlier this year, a trails master plan was presented.

The total budgeted for the project is $735,000.

The Downtown Commercial Inventory and Development Strategy has received $10,000.

This was submitted under the project development stream.

Over the pat three years, the municipality has been successful in all its grant submissions through the Rural Dividend Fund program.

Other successful grants have included $100,000 for the Economic Development Initiative, $100,000 for the Integrated Solar Project and $10,000 for the Affordable Housing Framework.
