RCMP have confirmed reports that a man drowned while fishing on Yellow lake Friday afternoon.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., emergency crews were called to Yellow Lake for reports of an overturned boat and boaters in the lake.

“On attendance it was learnt from witnesses that other boaters came to the aid of a pair of fishermen, who ended up in the water,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

“Both men were returned to shore, with one man alive, however the second man had drowned. The pair was fishing in a small aluminum boat.”

RCMP can now confirm that it was an 82-year-old man from Penticton that drowned.

“The Penticton RCMP is continuing to assist the BC Coroner Service with their investigation into the incident and the man’s death,” added Moskaluk.
