A grass fire broke out on Thursday around 2:15 p.m. on the Osoyoos Indian Band land.

The fire started south of Black Sage Road and Nk’Mip Rd Junction.

The Oliver Fire Department – one fire engine, one water tender, bush truck and duty officer truck — was on the scene where the main damage done was to a utility pole near the road.

One witness indicated he saw a truck passing the area just before he called in the blaze to 911. A number of people were also working in the area on heavy equipment.
