Ten months after being found guilty of second degree murder, Howard Everett Krewson learned his fate Wednesday.

Krewson, born in 1959, was sentenced by Justice Frank Cole in Supreme Court in Vernon to life in prison for the murder in June 2014 of teacher Linda Ross (also known as Linda Marie Stewart), his common-law partner. He will be eligible for parole in 13 years.

Krewson was found guilty by a six-man, six-woman jury in Supreme Court in Vernon in September 2016 in connection with the shooting death of Ross at the property and residence they shared on Trinity Valley Road near Lumby.

The jury believed that Crown counsel proved beyond a reasonable doubt Krewson was well aware of the intent and consequences of his actions when he shot Ross.

Defence had argued for a lesser included offence of manslaughter, saying Krewson had been severely intoxicated by a combination of alcohol, drugs and pills, and that he couldn’t form the intent to know the consequences of what he was doing.
