The municipality will contribute $500 towards the costs of this year’s Canada Day celebrations.

At the municipal council meeting on April 22, council voted unanimously to give the funding to the Summerland branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.

The celebrations, on July 1, include a flag raising ceremony, food and entertainment.

John Dorn, past president of the Summerland Legion, said 400 people attended last year and the Legion ran out of food.

He added that the sound system for the ceremony and the entertainment will be improved for this year.
