Fundraising events planned for skatepark

Comedy night, video contest and dance planned to raise money for proposed facility

The Summerland Skatepark Committee is holding three events to raise money for the proposed park.

On Monday, March 27 at 7 p.m., the committee will host a comedy showcase at the Barking Parrot in Penticton.

The show features stand-up comedian Tim Nutt with David Kopp and Andrew Crone.

Tickets are available at Prima Pizza and Homeside Video in Summerland and at The Lakeside Resort in Penticton and at the door.

On Wednesday, April 19 from 6 to 8 p.m., top videos in a youth video contest for National Canadian Film Day will be shown at Centre Stage Theatre.

The video contest is open to youths 21 and younger. It features videos a maximum of five minutes in length.

The application deadline is Saturday, April 1. Participants should email the YouTube video link to skatepark@summerland.ca.

On Saturday, April 22, the Come As You Are fundraising dance has been planned.

This dinner and dance party will be held at the Summerland Legion. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for this event are available at the Suburban Princess, The Beanery and Pescada Hair Studio until April 14. Tickets will not be available at the door.
