The Penticton Fire Department responded to a call for a structure fire in the city’s industrial area Wednesday morning.

The department got the call to the Boundary Machine Shop on Commercial Way, where firefighters found smoke showing. Crews determined the fire to be originating from an electrical box outside the main entrance of the shop.

Penticton Electrical was called to the scene to deal with the electrical fire, which a witness said fortunately did not spread into the building.

Workers at Boundary Machine were just beginning the work day as the fire sparked and were able to quickly evacuate the building.
