For the past 20 years, members of Summerland’s Citizens on Patrol have been watching for suspicious activity around the community and reporting to the RCMP detachment.

“All we are is the eyes and ears for the RCMP,” said Doug Hardman, president of the group. “If we see anything suspicious, we call the RCMP.”

The members patrol Friday and Saturday late evenings, with volunteers committing to two shifts each month.

Hardman said there are 24 members of Citizens on Patrol, but more are needed.

“We could use another 10,” he said.
