The number and value of building permits issued in Summerland are both considerably higher than in previous years.
According to the municipality’s most recent statistics, a total of 18 building permits were issued in March. The total value of these permits is $2,656,800.
The biggest category was for single family homes. Permits were issued for six houses, with a value of $1,934,000.
Four residential permits, worth $422,000, were also issued during the month.
The dollar value of these permits is more than double last year’s figures, when 17 permits, worth $1,183,000 were issued.
So far this year, 49 permits, with a total value of $7,803,766 were issued.
This is a higher number of permits and a higher value than in any year since at least 2013.
