Penticton RCMP are investigating a second robbery involving a weapon in four days following an incident Monday at the Wal-Mart store that happened about 7:15 p.m.

Cpl. Ted Manchulenko said a man leaving the building carrying a box with a large screen television pulled a three or four inch knife on a security officer who confronted him when he was going out the front door.

“(He) told the security officer to back off and words were exchanged, the male ran out the door towards the Fairhaven housing unit across the street,” said Manchulenko. “Police attended and did an extensive search of the area and at this point it is still under investigation relating to the video that was at Wal-Mart and Fairhaven to locate a suspect in this series of events that took place.”

The latest incident comes on the heels of an armed robbery at the Husky gas and convenience store on Skaha Lake Road at 10:20 a.m. Saturday.

Surveillance posted online by the store showed a woman going through a bag and pulling out a knife, leaning over the counter and taking scratch and win tickets then stabbing the counter, receipt printer and computer screen and knocking the computer to the floor before going behind the counter and taking more items.

The masked suspect, wearing a pink hoodie and patterned pants, reportedly and unsuccessfully attempted to stab the cashier several times before pulling off the hood and leaving the building.

According to Manchulenko, police have received anonymous tips as to the woman’s identity but are no further along in their investigation at this point.
