Three exhibits to open Friday

Opening this Friday at 7 p.m. at the Penticton Art Gallery are three great exhibits: Insight: Artists as Educators; Annerose Georgeson : After the Clear Cut and Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas ~ Red: A Haida Manga.  On Saturday, Jan. 22 there will be artist talks by Annerose Georgeson (1 p.m.) and Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas (2 p.m.)

 Winter concert

A Winter Concert at the Lake will be held Sunday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church on 5505 Butler St.  This concert is a delightful afternoon of baroque pipe organ and flute music followed by delectable desserts and tea. Tickets are available at the Summerland Art Gallery.

Annual meeting

The Summerland Community Arts Council will be holding its annual general meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at the Arts Centre.   We welcome new members to our various committees and to our board.   Come and support the arts in our community. 

On stage

Many Hats Theatre Company presents Opening Night, at the Cannery Stage, beginning Thursday, Jan. 27. The fun begins as Jack and Ruth Tisdale are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with an evening at the theatre. It’s a dream come true for Ruth but Jack would rather be at home watching the World Series. The hilarious antics and the events both on and off the stage that fateful night will leave you in stitches. 

At the gallery 

Opening next Thursday, Jan. 27 with a wine and cheese reception from 7 to 9 p.m. is the first exhibition at the Summerland Art Gallery of 2011.  It will be a multimedia show featuring works by a diverse group of Summerland artists.

Band rehearsals 

The Penticton Concert Band has resumed its weekly rehearsals.  They meet Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Intermediate to advanced players welcome.   This is a great opportunity to share the joy of playing music with 40 others from the South Okanagan Similkameen. Café Noir 

Mark your calendars for Café Noir being held Friday, Feb. 25 at the Summerland Art Gallery.  Come and experience a wonderful evening of specialty coffees, sumptuous desserts amid the ambiance of the Art Gallery.  Music provided by Almost a Few.
