New festival for Penticton

The Penticton and District Community Arts Council announces new festival

The Penticton and District Community Arts Council is very pleased to announce the launch of an annual arts festival. Artsrising Penticton will be a vibrant and uplifting celebration of the power of art.

A multi-disciplinary, multi-venue festival Artsrising will take place Sept. 21 to Sept. 24.

Artsrising will usher in the return of ReImagine Street Art Festival which was a Downtown Penticton Association initiative until 2011. The brand new Snakebite Film Festival will feature screenings by local amateur film makers. ARTwear will return for it’s second reprise of wearable art. The art galleries will come alive with open houses, artist talks and demonstrations and music will be everywhere.

In order to make this inaugural festival a grand success the arts council invites members of the community to join in with ideas. The council is looking to engage the community volunteers, artists, business partners, stakeholders, venues, retailers, restaurants in a variety of different ways. The goal is to unite the community and bring great vibrancy, economic growth and unlimited potential to the fall shoulder season.

Those interested in participating can attend the first official information night March 20 at 7 p.m. at the Leir House, 220 Manor Park Ave. A concise presentation of the festival vision and plan will be given. Coffee and tea provided. Inspiration and passion will be on unlimited supply.
