Summerland’s Women’s Institute hosted a two-day provincial Women’s Institute in September 1914.

This photograph was taken at the Men’s Club beside the old Methodist Church on Gowan Avenue in Lowertown.

Summerland’s Women Institute (formed in 1909) was a very active service club.

Just a few of their community contributions included supporting the Summerland Fall Fair, the Summerland Legion, parkland development, cultural events, sending packages to soldiers during World War I and preserving historical records.
