Thursday

Al-Anon offers help to families and friends of alcoholics. Summerland Serenity Group meets Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. in the United Church hall. Call 250-490-9272 for more information.

Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers meet at the Harold Simpson Memorial Youth Centre on Thursday evenings. Beavers meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Cubs meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Scouts meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Venturers meet from 7:30 to 9 p.m. For details call Trent at 250-494-1990.

Euchre is played from September to June, every second and fourth Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Seniors’ Drop-in Centre, 9710 Brown St.

Lyme Disease Support Group meets on the first Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. at Santorini’s Restaurant in Summerland. Call Sue at 250-493-4090.

South Okanagan Traditional Rug Artists meet every Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m., except July and August, at the Summerland United Church Hall, 13204 Henry St.

Summerland Caregiver Support Group meets the second and fourth Thursdays of every month from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Summerland Health Centre lower conference room. Call Cindy at 250-404-8072.

Summerland Sportsmen’s Association meets every third Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Summerland Legion. The SSA focuses on fishing, shooting, hunting, archery and conservation and is affiliated with the B.C. Wildlife Federation.

Summerland TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Thursday at 5:30 p.m., lower floor of Summerland Seniors Centre. For info call Lee at 250-462-0990.

The Summerland Multiple Sclerosis Group meets on the first Thursday of every month at 10:30 a.m. at the MS office, 3373 Skaha Lake Rd., Penticton. Everyone welcome. For more information call Sherry at 250-493-6564.

Saturday

Charity Bottle Drive at Summerland IGA each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds from the collections will go to support the Summerland Food Bank and Critteraid.

Crib Tournaments every fourth Saturday at the Summerland Seniors’ Drop-in Centre, starting at 1 p.m. Singles welcome. Tournaments are held from September to June, except for December.

Minds in Motion, a new program from the Alzheimer Society of B.C., begins Tuesday, April 4 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Penticton Community Centre. This program is for people with early signs of dementia and their caregivers. The program will run six to eight weeks. To register, visit the centre of visit penticton.ca/e-reg.

Summerland ATV Club meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the lower level of the former Summerland Library building on Wharton Street.

Drop off used hearing aids, five years old or newer, at any Summerland drug store. They will be reconditioned for needy seniors.

Recope Society of Summerland offers medically supervised water therapy and land exercise programs helpful to clients with various medical conditions, such as joint replacements, stroke, back problems, arthritis, to name just a few. Programs are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday. A medical referral is required.

Spring Plant Sale at the Summerland Ornamental Gardens, Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Gardens.

Summerland Refugee Sponsorship Group presents a free public screening of “Taaloo Zorouna,” Arabic for “Come Visit With Us.” The film s a series of interviews with four Syrian refugee families who came to the Okanagan last year, including two families who settled in Summerland and one in Penticton. The screening will take place on Wedesday, May 3, 7 p.m. at Centre Stage Theatre, Summerland.

The Penticton Tune-Agers invite you to celebrate with them This Land of Ours, recognizing Canada’s 150th anniversary with a concert the last weekend of April. There are two performances, Saturday April 29 and Sunday April 30, at 2 p.m., at the Shatford Centre, 760 Main St., Penticton.
